Notes from the NVIDIA ACE Webinar

Published Jul 2, 2026

This week, our team went to an NVIDIA webinar to check out their ACE product, an on-device AI tech for Unreal Engine. Obviously, the topic sounds exciting to us, since we are building in the same space. The cool thing is that the talk wasn't about whether or not AI should be integrated in games, but rather how to do it. So the hype around AI-backed NPCs is quite obvious right now.

The presented demos were fun (an AI teammate, NPCs that remember you and hold conversations with each other), but they showed a basic pipeline (voice capture → LLM → TTS → animation) with a persona defined only by a system prompt. The demo showed no RAG, no intent classification, no guardrails, no tool-calling, and no QA/eval metrics, which makes it more of a media showcase. The main challenges highlighted in the webinar were memory budgets on consumer GPUs, keeping inference off the frame time, prompt injection and security.

Notes from the NVIDIA ACE webinar

As the name suggests, NVIDIA ACE is RTX-only, and it also runs only on Unreal. Despite these obvious limitations (console players and those without an RTX GPU, sorry, guys) ACE is a solid piece of the stack that we might even plug into our own pipeline for NVIDIA cards and UE titles. The road from a tool like this to a production-ready solution is tough, and as we build all those systems, we're keen to integrate the best ideas on the market. So, if you're passionate about integrating AI in your games, drop a line in the comments. We're open to chat and give a demo to try!
