The Future in Games Belongs to the Punks

Published Sep 3, 2026

The future in games belongs to the Punks.

At Gamescom in the big names halls, we saw money and boredom. Sequels with nine-figure marketing and 0 innovation, IPs recycled for 20 years and mechanics you could have described in 2010. The things that made you say "wow" were in the corners, built by agile teams doing something nobody has a category for yet. Those are the Outliers, the Disruptors — the Punks.

The Punks of Gamescom

Be realistic, demand the impossible: create a genre that has never existed before. Tryll is providing a tool to power the imagination. Intelligence that runs on-device — the only way it can work for games. It is the first new gameplay primitive in 20 years and nobody has shipped a hit on it yet.

There are studios building with new mechanics right now and a lot more are onboarding after Gamescom. Ask yourself why you came to the industry in the first place? To make a reskin of someone else's indie hit or try to make just another friendslop? Or to build a legacy by creating new genres?

The future is calling — get armed. With Tryll.
